Breast Reconstruction Program

The program provides comprehensive care and treatment to women undergoing breast reconstruction. The program is interdisciplinary involving plastic surgeons, general surgeons, surgical oncologists, a clinical nurse specialist, bedside nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, nutritionists and other health care workers. This team approach provides coordinated treatment and care.

Mandate and Goals

The mandate of the program is to provide timely access to breast reconstructive surgery. The program is designed for women who choose reconstruction at the time of mastectomy surgery, known as immediate reconstruction or women who had their mastectomy surgery months or years previously known as delayed reconstruction.

The goals of the program are to provide urgent access for immediate reconstruction, reduce wait time for delayed breast reconstruction, and excellent care and treatment whenever the surgery takes place.
